Dressing for an interview is a bit nerve wrecking when you don't know what the proper attire is. Our employees are here to help you make the right decision.

Lawyers, Doctors, Accountants and Other Professionals
The best choice in interviewing for a lawyer, doctor, or accounting position is a navy or charcoal, single-breasted suit. A white point collar long sleeve dress shirt is best although a blue shirt will work as well. (Blended shirts require less care; the most popular is 60% cotton 40% polyester.) Black shoes and belt. (Cordovan shoes and belt may be worn with the navy suit.) The tie is to be conservative and at the same time show your personality. (It looks its finest when the tie coordinates the colors of the suit and shirt.) Van Andel's can help you make the correct choices.

Advertising, Marketing and Other Creative Professions
If you are interviewing for a position in a more creative field, such as advertising or marketing the best choice is still the afore mentioned with the exception of the tie. In this case the tie can be liberal or artistic. Three and four button suits are other great choices. Adding earth tones and black to color pallet. Stay with white or blue for the shirt. Wear brown shoes and belt with the earth tones.

Other Professions
A sport coat/blazer and slack combination is always a winner. There are times that a coat isn't necessary. Khaki trousers, a long sleeve shirt and tie is all that is needed.

Whatever your chosen profession is, we're here to help!
Suits made of 100% worsted wool are wrinkle resistant and breath well, which means you'll be more comfortable. There are different weights of wool suits, a medium to light (tropical) weight is good year round for our climate area. Shirts made of 100% cotton breath better than other fabric, which also means comfort for you. (There are non-iron wrinkle-free shirts available.) Wear lace-up shoes. The shoes can be wing tip, cap toe or split toe. Jewelry shoul be limited to wedding band and watch. Colognes and other fragrances should be worn very conservatively or not at all. The interviewer may be allergic to what you wear.

Second Interviews
Sometimes a job requires a second interview. Be prepared by having two suits or have a different shirt and tie combination for your only suit.
