In 1952 William (Bill) Van Andel opened the doors for the first time as Van Andel’s Menswear. The store carried work clothing for the first few years but the demand for Menswear that was a little dressier became apparent. Part of our success has been our ability to understand what our customers need. The merchandise carried now includes Suits, Sport coats, Casual wear and Tuxedo Rentals. In 2002 the store was remodeled to expand the Formalwear section to allow a comfortable and relaxed setting for our Bridal customers.



John Van Andel is the son of Bill and started out working at Van Andel's since he was seven years old, (making bows and helping out wherever he could). He worked part time through his high school years. In 1971 John returned from college and became a full time employee. Ownership changed when John bought the store from his father in 1981.
